The MTN Y’ellopreneur Initiative aims to address women unemployment and foster women's development in entrepreneurship by offering capacity building and access to capital through loans, grants, and advisory support services to ensure long-term business sustainability.
This initiative targets female entrepreneurs nationwide who demonstrate dedication and commitment to self-employment and operate existing businesses for two years or more in sectors such as circular economy, manufacturing, processing, agriculture, ICT/digital services, waste management, among others, with a focus on sourcing raw materials locally.
The MTN Nigeria Foundation introduced the Y’ellopreneur Initiative's pilot phase in 2022, during which 4,711 female entrepreneurs received training in fundamental business management and development. This training equipped them to compete for the opportunity to access up to N2 million in equipment loans/grants to expand their businesses. Over N94 million in equipment loans were disbursed to 50 female entrepreneurs. Upon full repayment of the loan, Y’ellopreneurs will receive 25% of the loan value as grants.
